Dr. Sohrab Ali
Dr. Sohrab Naushad Ali is an American board-eligible and Canadian Royal College of Surgeons-certified urologist specializing in Endourology, Laparoscopy, Robotic Surgery, Image-Guided Therapy, and Minimally Invasive Urologic Oncology.
He completed his Urology Residency at the University of Ottawa, Canada, where he was recognized for his surgical excellence and commitment to patient care. He also holds a Master of Science in Surgery from the University of Western Ontario, where he conducted groundbreaking research on insect models for nephrolithiasis (kidney stones). Dr. Ali is dual fellowship-trained in Endourology, Laparoscopy, Robotic Surgery, and Image-Guided Therapy, as well as Robotic Surgery and Minimally Invasive Urologic Oncology (RSMIUO) at UC Irvine, where he now serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Urology.
An expert in robotic partial and radical nephrectomy, robotic prostatectomy, and percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), he specializes in the retroperitoneal approach and single-port robotics. He routinely manages complex stone disease. His research focuses on novel animal models for stone disease, surgical innovation, artificial intelligence in urology, and opioid reduction strategies. He has published extensively in leading journals, contributed to urology textbooks, and secured research funding from organizations such as the Kidney Foundation of Canada and the Samueli Integrative Health Institute.
Dr. Ali is a recipient of multiple awards, including the Endourological Society Fellow Essay Prize and the UCI Health Patient Experience Award for Top 20 Physicians. Dedicated to advancing surgical techniques and medical education, he is an active speaker at AUA, EAU, and NARUS conferences and a member of the American Urological Association, Canadian Urological Association, and Society of Endourology.
Beyond medicine, he is an avid guitarist, gravel bicyclist, and technology enthusiast. Dr. Ali remains committed to pushing the boundaries of urology through innovation, research, and excellence in patient care.
